Fidel Castro Reported Dead – True or False?
by Jack Smith on Nov.28, 2009, under Politics
There is a strong rumour around that Fidel Castro is dead. Reports have been circulating from unconfirmed sources and have been listed high in Google Trends.
It is not that unusual for a report of a dying celebrity to be heavily featured in the news whether officially confirmed or not. Recently we had reports of Lady Gaga supposedly killed in a bomb blast or from a narcotic overdose depending on which source you read.
Due to his failing health, Fidel Castro has been reported as “on his deathbed” for some time now. In July 2006 he had emergency intestinal surgery to stem bleeding from diverticulitis, and since then he has been under constant medical supervision. He has constructed a state-of-the-art hospital suite in his principal residence where he is surrounded by his well meaning family and a host of Cuba’s finest doctors. His failing health made him give up power some years ago and hand over the reigns to his brother Raul. Since then he has only been seen in public once or twice.
The state of health of “El Presidente” has been the subject of speculation for some time, but little or no information is given out by the Cuban authorities. Apparently Perez Hilton tried to report that Castro was dead in 2007, but that story turned out to be false.
In January 2009 Castro asked Cubans not to worry about his failing heath or lack of recent appearances, nor to be disturbed by his future death. Inevitably the rumours are likely to linger on for a while yet.

Green Mayors Across America
by Michael Richmond on Nov.18, 2009, under Politics
Everyone is looking for leadership today, and environmentalism has taken many distracting routes. Mayors Across America is a new and tremendous idea that all mayors need to be aware of. Mayors Across America is the first step that all mayors need to take to make sure their offices, communities, and cities become authentically Green. Mayors often talk about Green initiatives in their communities, but taking real action is not as simple as it sounds.
The Green Business League is noticing that people are being deceived right now in a period of Greenwashing tactics and an “Easy Green” approach where they will actually purchase a Green certification off the Internet without any training. Green leadership is essential in put confidence in others to Go Green as well. What is needed is a program that doesn’t “Dumb Down Green,” but forces people, families, businesses, and organizations to step up to a respected standard of Green Practices.
While every little bit counts, we also suffer from a discordant array of Green promotions that lack the size and vision found in a national (and International) program of responsible and holistic Green Practices that millions of people and companies can achieve under a common system. The Green Business League transcends local Green programs that are well-intended but not capable of creating the kind of program that can change our national and our world.
The public relations value is also very obvious. But, the signal that this effort sends is invaluable to the community. We encourage every Mayor to join Mayors Across America, and take the leadership in their community for what is happening in other cities across America. The fee, of course, is extremely modest.
Bringing a Green program to your city is simple and well-conceived. The Green Business League has trained Certified Green Consultants that will provide all the necessary support required. She/he will synchronize with your existing projects to build a program that develops Green business, Green communities, and Green events. Why create the wheel over again? The environmental crisis is not served by well-intended but casually-implemented programs like a patchwork across America. The Green Business League offers a true “Plug and Play” type of approach.
Setting a standard that carries more than local recognition will enhance your city’s commitment and success. The Green Business League has more than 300 Certified Green Consultants nationally. There is probably one in or near your town who can easily assist the Mayor’s office in the program. We ask only for a modest endorsement of the Green Business League program as we encourage businesses and organizations to participate in a Green business network that will also stimulate local business buying from businesses. There seems to be no losers in this project, because while there is a cost for each certification, the actual savings will increase profits in any business.
Mayors Across America offers the opportunity for any Mayor’s office to earn the GBL Green Business Certification for the small fee of certification. What is important, now, is that community leader’s step up to this challenge as an example for others to follow. To help promote the value of this program, we are going to create a massive Internet syndication of each and every mayor’s office in the program. This includes hundreds of syndicated articles, a media campaign that reaches the major news agencies in the country, and a good number of high-value links resulting from this effort.
Any mayor’s office wishing to join this initiative is encouraged to contact our office, and we will have a trained Certified Green Consultant follow up with them as soon as possible. The process starts with an assessment of all Green Practices currently in place. Points are assigned for all such improvements. The assessment will highlight other Green Practices that will allow the business to attain the 100 point requirement. Since this program is not an honorary or shallow certification, an assessment and audit are annually conducted to encourage Green Practices in areas that fit the company’s situation.
Click on thes links to know more about the Mayors Across America system or get in touch with a Green Consultant from the Green Business Leaue directory and they will be able to give professional aid. The Green Business League Believes that a Green Certification is earned not bought.
How critical is it to carry Michigan health insurance?
by Mike Novelli on Nov.17, 2009, under Politics
Michigan health insurance coverage is equivocally as important as carrying a car insurance policy. A chronic illness like diabetes, cancer could render someone financially destitute. The financial woos, of unemployment and a recessed economy, leaves many Americans forgoing health insurance coverage.
Between the growing cost of hospitalization, prescriptions and diagnostic testing, it’s no secret that the cost of medical care services. It is the reason that legislators are trying to make health insurance coverage a legal obligation.
Some Michiganites think that because they have health insurance through their employer that they are covered. For others, the homework of finding a low cost plan with adequate protection is too involved.
Health insurance plans are the panacea to avoiding the financial calamities of not having medical overage in Michigan. Insurance broker analyst of MichiganHealthandLife.com, Michael Novelli stresses the importance of being insured prior to a life threatening medical situation happens.
Mr. Novelli advises that not carrying insurance today can ultimately minimize future affordable health insurance.
Make your Michigan health insurance options prudent. Since, each Michigan health insurance programs vary significantly. Contact between three and five health insurance quotes from various agencies. To simplify your quest for an affordable policy, enlist the assistance of a licensed insurance agent who is affiliated with a number of insurance companies.
Although shopping for an affordable Michigan health insurance policy tops the priority list, make sure the policy you select offers the following qualities: 1) A health policy which covers mega medical costs. 2) A medical plan that is effective the day of your first payment. (Numerous Michigan health insurance policies mandate that new policyholders wait so many days or months before coverage goes into effect).
Also, certain Michigan health insurance plans have a waiting or grace period before coverage kicks in). Confirm that the insurance plan includes and “free look” clause or 10-days to cancel policy.

The Benefits of Joining a Trade Union
by Ronald Smithson on Nov.16, 2009, under Politics
Whats in it for me?, people would inquire. There are a few people who think fighting for a cause to be unnecessary. They are usually just content to sit around and allow other people to fight for the causes that are crucial for the betterment of the lives of people. This kind of behavior is downright irresponsible. Apathy is not a thing to be admired. In fact, many great men have said that being a fence sitter is the most serious crime. Every human being owes it to himself and to other people to at least make a stand.
One way to make a stand would be to join a trade union. In today turbulent economic climate, these trade unions could use all the aid they can get. So many people are at risk of being fired because companies are attempting to cut costs. And each signature on a petition would certainly help a lot. But really, lets be realistic. Lets go back to the first question, what is, indeed, in it for you?
Ensuring your Job Security
Hard times are upon us these days, and nobody is exempt from the risk of losing his job because this is an ever-present threat. Sometimes, its all a person can do to wait and hope for the best. But there are some actions you can do to lessen the risk. If you join a trade union, they can take measures in order to ensure that you and your fellow members are not laid off unjustly. But in the situation where getting fired is unavoidable, unions can at least ensure that its members get a nice settlement.
Free Legal Advice
If you are ever in a scenario where you feel that you have been unjustly treated, you can rely on the trade unions to give you appropriate legal advice. You wont have to pay an unimaginable amount of money just to get advice from a lawyer. In fact, the trade union can even give you the representation you possibly might need.
Increased Pay and Working Conditions
The main purpose of Trade Unions is to act as allies for the employees. They unceasingly campaign for change, for improvement. And if you help your trade union, then you would have a bigger chance at getting a wage increase and better benefits.
When you do not know much about Trade Unions and you want to make a search on the Network for information about them, please take a look at my site fagforeninger. You can find everything about Trade Unions.
Stonewall Forty Years Later
by Howie Holben on Nov.14, 2009, under Politics
The Stonewall Riots happened in New York City forty years ago this June. The riots started with a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Persecution of homosexuals and raids on homosexual gathering places were common at the time.
But there must have been “something in the air” the night of June 27,’69; maybe it was years of pent up frustration; maybe it was anger at being persecuted for so long. Whatever the cause, The Stonewall Riots are generally recognized as the first time gay people stood together and fought back against the tyranny they had been subjected to for so many years. As the patrons were rousted out of the bar and the arrests were being made, soon a crowd of about 2000 gathered. And then it began…Angry words were shouted at the police and chants of “Gay Power” came from the crowd. Soon words turned to actions as the crowd began throwing things at the police like bottles and trash cans.
Several people were arrested, some were injured and some police were also hurt. The riots were repeated the next night with even a larger number of people participating in the revolt. The Riot Squad needed to be called in to bring it to an end; the Gay Rights movement had begun.
In the years since the Stonewall Riots, the LGBT community has come a tremendous distance in the fight for our equal rights and acceptance. We have fought hard to become accepted by, and even welcomed into, our neighborhoods. We have spent years showing the world that we are no different than anyone else. And the efforts have paid off immensely.
TV shows and movies now routinely have gay characters. In fact, we have almost come to expect there to be at least one gay character in a new TV show or in a movie. Domestic partner benefits are now offered by many companies and cities. Domestic partners, civil unions and even marriage have been legalized in some states. Advertisements are now made portraying gay characters.
Yet, our work for acceptance still goes on. Homophobia still exists in the United States and in countries the entire world over. Gay teenagers still kill themselves and gay hate crimes are even on the rise. We still have ignorance and hatred to overcome.
However, in our efforts to be accepted and to show the world “that we’re just like everybody else”, let’s not lose sight of the fact that we are different than roughly 90% of the people around us. Our Creator made us different, and in doing so gave us gifts and talents that the world is in need of; let us not forget to celebrate the uniqueness of these gifts and talents.
Being gay, we walk between the worlds of typical male or female gender roles. We are more keenly aware of both our masculine and feminine attributes. This awareness allows us to more easily see, and be open to, many aspects of life that others cannot see. Thus, many of us are known as being unifiers; people with the ability to bridge gaps between others and heal relationships of all kinds. Walking between worlds can also make us more receptive to the “unseen” things in life and we become healers and shamans.
We are known to be intensely creative and many of us are involved in the arts. We are musicians, dancers, poets, singers, teachers, painters, song writers, actors, and yes, hair stylists and fashion designers! We are also world class athletes and Nobel Prize scientists. There seems to be an innate need in us to “give back”, to help others and in general make the world a better place for everyone.
The following quote from Marianne Williamson is wonderful. It is not directly addressed to gay people, but it expresses eloquently the gay experience of hiding ourselves and our gifts from the world:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Every person on this earth is different; no two people are exactly the same. All people, men and women, gay and straight, and no matter what religious background or skin color, have been given unique talents and gifts. Let us all shine together.

Results Based Leadership is Effective Leadership
by Bart Icles on Nov.08, 2009, under Politics
What makes an effective leader? Many people might say character, leadership style, and values define an effective leader. However, it is not enough to measure the effectiveness of a leader based on character, style, and values alone. These attributes should not be the only criteria in evaluating the effectiveness of a leader in any organization. Effective leadership takes more than just analytic thinking, personal integrity, and working with ambiguity. An effective leader should also learn how to connect these attributes with leadership results.
Many of us might have learned from college or from a management book the formula for results based leadership involves attributes, results, and effective leadership. This can be better illustrated as effective leadership = attributes x results. It is not merely the inputs of leadership that organizations and leaders must give importance to – leaders must also think about outcomes or results and organizations should start learning how to put stress or emphasis on the outcomes of leadership.
It has always been a challenge for organizations to make its people have a better understanding of results based leadership. And it has always been a challenge for executives, managers, and human resources personnel to help develop leaders (in different levels of the organizations) who are able to focus on both attributes and results. To help organizations have a deeper understanding and appreciation of leadership that is based on results, it is recommended that executives and managers should continually ask for things that are required for attaining results and recurrently tell stories about how to get results.
There are four ways by which we can evaluate whether or not leaders are observing and exhibiting results based leadership. Results must help balance the employees, organization, customers, and investors – and it must not ignore any one. Results must also be able to strongly connect to the strategy of the organization, as well as its competitive position. It should also meet both short-term and long-term goals, and it must not sacrifice long-term plans. Moreover, results must support the whole organization and should go beyond the personal gain of the manager, executive or any other leader.
There are also four areas by which results based leadership can be delivered – for employees, for the organization, for its customers, and for its investors. There are certain metrics for each of these areas, and they should all be taken into consideration if a leader wants to deliver results.

Loans For Real Estate Investors
by James Scott on Nov.07, 2009, under Politics
With the downturn in the economy and banks holding on to the bailout money they were supposed to be lending that was meant to stimulate the economy, the entrepreneurs are once again, thrown to the wolves.
Now there are phony, flybynight consultants popping up on the web who are reselling private placement memorandum authoring services. It’s unbelievable to think that a company will spend $5,000 to $20,000 with an absolute amateur who doesn’t know the first thing about a PPM or the legalities of this document that can lead to the client getting sued by investors down the road.
Who is looking out for the client? Sadly, no one seems to be looking past the almighty dollar and actually trying to help the entrepreneur succeed in raising the capital they need to grow their business which will lead to job creation and stimulating the economy. If you’re a business that’s trying to raise capital here is some advice on how to prequalify an Offering Memorandum service to find out if they are truly the author of your document or if they are simply using a template that will get you burned down the road or if they are simply taking your money and outsourcing the service to another group that has no real compression of this intricate document.
Ask them, in a stealthy way, to define these basic terms that are simple for anyone that does this for a living. What are Blue Sky Laws and how does that affect you when you’re raising capital? What is and do they include a complete state legend with your PPM? What is the difference between accredited and non accredited investors and how many of each can be used with each of the 3 types of Private Placement Memorandums?
What type of solicitation laws does the SEC have in place for a company that is fund raising with a PPM? How can you prepare for due diligence before the PPM is completed and in the hands of investors? These are just some of the most basic questions that will give you a feel for how well the consultant you are speaking to truly knows this industry. Always get all your questions answered before going with a consultant in this industry. Never go with a pushy consultant and always remember, the best Regulation D (Private Placement Memorandum) consultants will answer all your questions without up sells or ‘hurry up because this is a limited time offer’ mentality. The SEC created Regulation D exemptions (PPM) to help companies raise capital in a streamlined, simple way and this is an incredible method for any business to raise a little or a lot of money. Find the right consultant that includes everything in one, cost effective bundle and you’re on your way to getting the cash you need for your expansion objectives.

Michigan Health Insurance Inflicts Costly Errs If Not Understood
by Holly Bentz on Nov.02, 2009, under Politics
Despite the assortment of Michigan health insurance plans, baffled consumers tend to buy unsuitable policies or forgo coverage, altogether. Many find that affordable health coverage tends to fall short on premiums and high on out-of-pocket expenses. Quite often, the problem stems from not knowing the difference between deductibles and coinsurance. With the state of Michigan’s growing unemployment rate and uninsured woos, hospital bills continue to plague cash strapped citizens.
Approximately, 47 percent of Americans don’t understand their health insurance or the difference between co-payment, deductible, and coinsurance. The problem is that consumers shopping for Michigan health insurance are unaware of what they’re buying. In the end, many are left to pay medical bills they thought their policy would cover.
Pregnant for the first time, Wanda Jones, 32 considered her bases covered when she became pregnant. The low premium medical coverage she purchased for her small business unveiled a few surprises. Despite a $2000 deductible, Ms. Jones learned that delivery would cost an extra $4000 at the hospital.
According to analysts, these medical coverage missteps happen all the time. As an expectant mother facing childbirth on her own, running a craft store in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the out-of-pocket deductible exceeded Ms. Jones savings account. She reports, “Since the jargon used in Michigan health insurance plans is so confusing. I never made time to understand the policy,” Had Ms. Jones asked the insurance agent to explain the policy she concludes, “I would have reconsidered single parenting.”
Mike Novelli, president of MichiganHealthandLife.com says that selecting the right Michigan health insurance plan has a lot to do with the broker selling the policy. If the agent neglects to disclose all the policy’s details, there are generally going to be some surprises. He advises consumers to avoid unscrupulous brokers by obtaining quotes from an agent who vends an assortment of Michigan health insurance plans. He also recommends recognizing the following shortlist of ethical attributes:
- Provides a comprehensive overview of each medical plan’s policies, defining low premiums with deductibles and coinsurance out-of-pocket costs.
- Doesn’t charge an application fee. (There’s no cost involved to apply for Michigan health insurance).
- Offers professional, resourceful advice free of pushy sales tactics.

You, Your CV And The Current Employment Market
by Glenn HUghes on Oct.25, 2009, under Politics
With unemployment rising across the globe through the effects of this global recession, jobs generally are much scarcer than they were before. One sector that is on the rise though is the public sector. Whilst this is not true in every country, many governments are spending on their infrastructure through large scale construction projects on roads, schools, hospitals, etc. Clearly this is an area that you may wish to target
If there is more competition in anything, it is pretty obvious that you need to work harder to get to the top. Your CV has about 20 seconds to make a good enough impression on the reader to want them to read more and find out more about you. Is your CV getting you the results that you need? If not, you really need to have a good look at it or maybe get an expert to have a look over it to see what is wrong- clearly something is wrong and you need to find out exactly what
Buying in the services of a professional CV writer is definitely something that you should consider at the moment. Nobody is an expert in everything and you should always take expert advice when you need it for something important. If you are considering buying a property, you would be well advised to consider buying a structural survey of the property from a qualified surveyor. It is a similar thing with your CV. Why leave things to chance when we are talking about your livelihood?
Filling in an application form by hand is often a requirement when applying for a job in the public sector. For goodness sake, please follow the instructions that you are sked to comply with. If the instructions ask you to fill in all of the boxes, then please make sure that you actually do follow the guidelines. Failure to do this will mean that your application is immediately rejected as you have just shown the reader that you are unable or unwilling to take basic instruction- why would they want to employ you if that is the case?
Some people refuse to pay for anything that they feel that they don’t need to pay for. Scrimping on your CV is a sure way to make sure that you don’t even get the chance to impress an employer with your skills and experience. The relatively small cost of employing a CV writer will be more than paid for if they do their job for you. Many people have ended up earning significantly more money simply by getting a professional CV written that gets doors opened for them that they never thought that they would be able to walk though
About the writer: Glenn Hughes is an accomplished CV writer operating a CV writing company based in Wales. With over 1200 successful CVs written, CV That Works is ideally situated to help you get the job that you need
